Logo Design

The purpose of this project is to create a logo that combines an animal with a descriptive word used to describe the animal. I chose the word scope and the icon of a cat to reference the way cats examine and evaluate their surroundings so attentively. During the process, I Creating a logo can sometimes be thought of as simple or easy but in this project I spent time observing characteristics of a cat to build a form into a shape by using the necessary parts of that animal and stripping away what is not needed. This animal then had to form a shape, not just reverse out of one.

This was the first time I learned about Image Trace in Illustrator. It was much easier to use something created by hand first and bring it into the computer rather than try and create it from scratch in the computer.

Final Logo Mark and Type

Final Logo Mark and Type

After spending so much time adjusting the logo mark and trying to fit the rounded shape it had into a hexagon, I realized I needed to stop trying to make it fit into that shape when I should work with that form and create a circle instead. The rounded forms from the typeface "Co Text" were used to mimmic the round shape of the cat. The text was altered just slightly at the finials of the "s," "c," and "e."
